MOSCOW. Visitors to the Veresov Gallery located on Leningradsky Prospekt received a unique opportunity to get acquainted with the work of Russian-American artist Nikolai Feshin. For a month, until November 23, the gallery’s exhibition space demonstrates the artist’s graphic works provided for the exhibition by private collectors and Russian museums.

The custodians of the works now housed in the Veresov Gallery are the funds of such important museums as the Museum named after Bakhrushin, Russian Museum, State Museum of Fine Arts of Tatarstan, where the world’s most significant collection of works by Nikolai Feshin is located. Provided exhibits and art museums of cities such as Samara, Cheboksary, Ufa and Kozmodemyansk.

The creation of this exhibition, which presents not only the graphics of Nikolai Feshin, but also the painterly miniature made by the artist, was made possible thanks to the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation and the Russian Academy of Arts. Zurich Foundation “Russian Contemporary Art” also took part in the creation of the exhibition.

A talented artist was born in Kazan, where his father, engaged in the carving of iconostases, had a workshop. In it, the artist mastered the basics of wood carving, which was used in his work.

The first steps in mastering the profession of an artist were also made in Kazan, where Feshin studied at an art school. Since 1903, he was a student of Ilya Repin at the Academy of Fine Arts of St. Petersburg. Participation in international exhibitions Feshin began to take part in 1910, representing the trends of impressionism and modernism.

Since 1923, Nikolai Ivanovich lived in the United States, where he died in 1955. The cost of his work sold allowed Feshin to become the most expensive Russian impressionist
