Employees of the Museum of the Kamchatka Territory for the anniversary of the painter prepared an exposition called "The Palette of Light and Good." All paintings placed in the exhibition space are available to visitors until August 30. They belong to the museum and the city gallery "Tablets of Kamchatka."

The artist is a native of the Kemerovo region, but since 1953 the whole family became residents of the Kamchatka Territory. Then the future painter was 13 years old. After graduating from school, Yuri became a student of an art school in the city of Cheboksary, and then the Far Eastern Institute of Arts.

It is interesting that Yuri Koldaev began his path to painting with art photography. However, it seemed to him that with the help of photographs it was impossible to convey the beauty of a world filled with sunny colors. When the young man saw the sketches written by the teacher of painting, he had a desire to master the brush in order to be able to paint pictures with Kamchatka landscapes no worse than his teacher.

Yuri Koldaev graduated from the institute in 1971, and since 1976 he actively participated in exhibitions. Now, his students, who studied at the Peter and Paul Art School, where Yuri Efimovich worked as a teacher, considered his paintings a role model.

In his work, Yuri Koldaev preferred to paint paintings telling about the history of the development of the Kamchatka region, created portraits of participants in these campaigns, landscapes of the Kamchatka Territory. Now these canvases are stored in the museum fund and city galleries. In 1982, the painter became a member of the Union of Artists of the USSR.

Since 1996, Yuri Koldaev lived in Volokolamsk, where until the end of his days he created new paintings.
