Exhibition of graphics "Tashkent Album. 1910-1970" at the IEC "Worker and Collective Farm Girl" Automatic translate
MOSCOW. Until June 12, the pavilion "Worker and Collective Farm Girl" can get acquainted with the exhibition of graphics "Tashkent Album. 1910-1970 ". Her exposition is made up of about a hundred graphic works by Russian artists, whose life has been connected with Uzbekistan for many years. Opening on May 1, the exhibition is a joint project of the Moscow Military District Manege and the ARTSTORY gallery.
Such a large-scale exhibition of works by Soviet graphic artists, who created their works on the territory of Uzbekistan for more than half a century, was organized almost for the first time in the post-Soviet space. Its basis was the work belonging to the gallery ARTSTORY. The remaining works entered the exhibition from the collections of other galleries and private collections.
Many works are a real rarity - in particular, the watercolors of Vadim Gulyaev presented on display, researchers of his work consider it to be an almost complete collection of the artist’s preserved works. Almost all of his archive was lost. The graphics of Benjamin Kedrin, who at some point became the center of the circle of Tashkent artists, is almost unfamiliar to the metropolitan audience. Some of the works by artists Alexander Volkov, Usto Mumin and Nikolai Karahan are exhibited for the first time in Moscow.
The national culture of Uzbekistan has always been closely connected with the culture of Russia. However, during the war years, when metropolitan art universities were sent to the republic for evacuation, famous artists arrived, this connection became even stronger. Of particular interest is the work of artists who were educated in Russia and then left to live in Uzbekistan. They became the founders of the local avant-garde. Their works are distinguished by a special graphic style, enriched with Uzbek flavor.
