SIMFEROPOL. The exhibition space of the Crimean Ethnographic Museum housed a traveling exhibition of works by Sigmund Strecker, a German artist. The exhibition was actively attended by: the Heidelberg Center, operating in Simferopol, the organization "Circle of Friends Heidelberg - Simferopol" (located in Heidelberg). During the opening ceremony of the exhibition of the German artist, held on May 27, representatives of these organizations were present.
Magdalene Melter, who is the coordinator of relations between twin cities, said that residents of many German cities have already seen this exhibition. Now, in anticipation of the anniversary of twin-city relations between cities celebrated next year, the works of Sigmund Strecker have arrived in Simferopol to acquaint residents of the city with the works created by the artist in the Crimea, in the period 1941-43.
At the opening of the exhibition arrived and the director of the museum. Strecker, Bernhart Strecker, son of the artist. He thanked all those present at the presentation and spoke about the activities of the museum and the work of his father. The artist was 26 years old when he, then still a student at the Düsseldorf Academy of Arts, was drafted into the army.
He served as a cartographer at the headquarters of the Eastern Front, in Crimea. In his free time, Sigmund did not part with paints and brushes - he painted landscapes and portraits. The exposition includes 40 landscapes and 20 portraits painted by the artist in Crimea.
