NIZHNY NOVGOROD. In memory of Vladimir Kundin, a Nizhny Novgorod artist whose life was cut short in 2010, an exhibition was opened that opened on April 11 at the Museum of Art. This year, Vladimir Kundin would have celebrated his sixtieth birthday. To participate in the exhibition, its organizers selected about fifty works representing painting and graphics in the artist’s work.

The creative path of Vladimir Alexandrovich was started at the art school of the city of Gorky, and then the young artist continued his professional education, studying graphics at the Institute. Surikov. He graduated from the Institute in 1983, and three years later he was admitted to the Union of Artists. For thirty years devoted to creativity, Vladimir Kundin has been a member of many art exhibitions. The graphic series “The Father’s House”, created by the artist in 1983, was included in the collection of the Tretyakov Gallery.

The graphic works included in the exposition were created in the eighties. Most of them are dedicated to the Volga and its workers. In these works, the artist combines the beauty of the vast expanses of a mighty river and the daily life of rivermen. With their help, he creates images that enable viewers to see both the prose of everyday life and the poetic generalization of life.

In a separate part of the exhibition there is a painting, to which the artist began to give preference in the second half of the nineties. As in graphics, in painting, Kundin’s favorite genre was landscape. He travels a lot in Russia, writes sketches in central Russia, in the northern part of the country.

For the first time, viewers will see pencil sketches for the canvas conceived by the artist about Nikolai Rubtsov. Unfortunately, the artist’s plan remained incomplete.
