It is no less interesting to plunge into the history of the artist. The exposition presents sketches for portraits created by Polenkov in 60-80 years. The artist created a significant number of portraits, however, in his work, the main and favorite genre is landscape. Landscapes are present not only in the graphic works of the artist, but also in painting.

The artist does not give preference to a particular time of year or state of nature. In its landscapes you can see autumn, painted with bright colors, and next to it is a frosty day, where blue shadows of trees appear in the snow. Landscapes painted in different places can be gloomy or joyful, but there is always harmony in them.

Dmitry Polenkov has been living in Karelia since 1974. At the beginning of his work, he worked as an illustrator of children’s books, created several series of graphic works from the life of border guards. His first exhibitions were held in Petrozavodsk. Now the artist’s works have become the property of museums and collectors.
