The Yaroslavl Art Museum presents the works of the famous portrait painter Vasily Tropinin Automatic translate
YAROSLAVL. On February 6, an exhibition of works by the famous master of portraiture Vasily Tropinin was opened in the small hall of the city art museum. The exhibition presents a total of 13 works by the artist, written by the artist during fifty years of creativity, starting in 1800. To create this exhibition, portraits from the museums of Kostroma and Vologda, Ivanovo and Rybinsk were collected. Of course, Tropinin’s works from the collection of the Yaroslavl Museum also entered the exposition.
Tropinin’s amazing talent, especially manifested in the creation of pictorial portraits, allowed the serf to get an education in St. Petersburg, where he studied at the Academy of Arts. Almost twenty years after graduating from the Academy, Vasily Tropinin remained serf, and a year after his liberation from serfdom, in 1824, the artist received the title of academician.
On the canvases of the exposition presents images of people belonging to different classes. Over the years of his work, the artist painted so many portraits that it seemed that almost all the inhabitants of Moscow were captured on them. On portraits created by Tropinin, viewers see strikingly characteristic images, the artist has always been interested in the inner essence of man, hidden behind the outer shell.
Even if the hero of the portrait painted by Tropinin was in his uniform, there was no pomp inherent in the “ceremonial” images. Most often, when creating a portrait, Tropinin dressed his model in a bathrobe to bring him closer to the viewer. Another feature is the work of Tropinin - all the heroes of his portraits, regardless of age, are depicted in a good mood. The artist said on this occasion that gloomy faces do not give pleasure to anyone.
Portraits of Tropinin will remain in the museum until May 3rd.
