The subject matter of Matvey Basov is very diverse. In most of his works, the artist turns to biblical themes, immersing the audience in an amazing world filled with light and love. Today, many of the artists turn to mythology, creating paintings that use motifs of various myths. However, the paintings of Matvey Basov occupy a special, separate place among them.

His work so strongly connects emotions with thoughts that the paintings become a center of attraction for the audience. A peculiar manner of writing plays a significant role - the artist uses juicy strokes, a bright color palette. Therefore, each of the works of Matvey Basov is special and memorable. The painter himself says that he writes his works in the genre of realism, however, he emphasizes his penchant for search and experiment. Therefore, not always his work fits into the framework of realistic painting.

The talent of Matvey Basov was noted very early. In 1964, when Matvey was only 14 years old, he was awarded a bronze medal at a children’s drawing competition held in Italy. Basov received his professional education at the Minsk Art College. Since 1981, he began to actively show his creativity at exhibitions, the number of which has long exceeded one hundred. The geography of these exhibitions is extremely wide - from native Belarus and Russia, to America and European countries.
