Exhibition of Mikhail Selishchev ’Troyan trail’ Automatic translate
MOSCOW. Mikhail Selishchev’s exhibition «The Troyan Trail» was opened from 9 to 22 November 2014 in the Central House of Artists (Moscow, Crimean shaft 10/14). Our expert on painting Surzhina Diana looked into a similar to the mysterious pirate grotto exhibition hall and discovered amazing treasures. Is this enamel so flickering on a black tree? How do you name this technique and what materials does the author use?
Artist Mikhail Selishchev, the experimenter like all true artists, explained that the enamel is different:
Mikhail Selishchev: The exhibition features enamel on copper and steel. The colors are the same, the firing temperature is the same, but the techniques are completely different. I have been familiar with enamel on copper for almost 25 years. And although my first work is done on steel, I say that I am familiar with the technique of enamel on steel for as many years I can not. Seriously, I met and felt the material 2 years ago at a symposium in Hungary.
D. Surzhina: As a rule, one who works on copper does not work on steel. What is better?
Mikhail Selishchev: On copper, they often work with jewelry enamels, achieving a special depth and brightness of color. On steel - the line prevails. On copper color, on steel - texture. On copper, the size of a jewelry, and on steel - the more, the better. Therefore, symposia on enamel on steel are carried out at the factory furnaces. Of course, you can try to work the same on steel and copper. But now it’s not about that. What is the main difference? In one the subject-object prevails. In another - the approach is basically easel. One is transparent, the other is completely opaque. One burn for a long time, in different ways. The second is fast and there are not enough firing. The main thing, probably, are different ways of thinking. So it’s better to ask what? It’s pointless.
D. Surzhina: And which technique is easier?
Mikhail Selishchev: I can not say. Working with enamel third ten, you understand that the material is almost completely do not know. I found some narrow approach and it’s somersaulting in it. The history of enamel is many, many centuries, like glass or ceramics. During this time, mankind has invented a great deal and achieved. And hardly anyone will be able to master the whole experience in one life. Too much volume. But it is necessary to give a superficial introduction, to give the basics. After all, this is a very modern material, very promising, durable, allowing it to be actively introduced into the interiors of buildings. Therefore, I consider it important to hold master classes and symposia on enamel. They can get the basics of working with this magic material! This is interesting for children and teachers of art schools.
On the site www.khors.org you can see videos about the master class and the work with enamel. And at the exhibition itself, study it directly. Meet with the author in the CHA and ask questions you can on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Photos of the author’s paintings - Mikhail Selishchev.
