Exhibition of Mikhail Selishchev "Trojan trace" Automatic translate
MOSCOW. The exhibition of Mikhail Selishchev “The Trojan Trail” is open from November 9 to 22, 2014 at the Central House of Artists (Moscow, Krymsky Val 10/14). Our expert on painting, Surzhina Diana, looked into the exhibition hall, which looked like a mysterious pirate grotto, and discovered amazing treasures. Are you looking for this enamel that flickers on ebony? What is the name of this technique and what materials does the author use?
The artist Mikhail Selishchev, an experimenter like all true artists, explained that enamel can be different:
Mikhail Selishchev: The exhibition presents enamel on copper and steel. The paints are the same, the firing temperature is the same, but the techniques are completely different. I have been familiar with enamel on copper for almost 25 years. And although my first work was done on steel, I can’t say that I am familiar with the enamel technique on steel for the same number of years. I seriously met and felt the material 2 years ago at a symposium in Hungary.
D. Surzhina: As a rule, the one who works on copper does not work on steel. Which is better?
Mikhail Selishchev: On copper, they often work with jewelry enamels, achieving a special depth and brightness of color. On steel - the line prevails. On copper color, on steel - texture. On copper, the size is jewelry, but on steel, the larger the better. Therefore, symposia on enamel on steel are held on factory furnaces. Of course, you can try to work the same on steel and copper. But now is not about that. What is the main difference? In one, the subject-object prevails. In the other, the approach is mainly easel. One is transparent, the other is completely opaque. One burn for a long time, in different ways. The second is fast and few firing. The main thing, probably, is different ways of thinking. Therefore, asking what is better? It makes no sense.
D. Surzhina: And which technique is easier?
Mikhail Selishchev: I can not say. When working with enamel, the third dozen, you understand that you hardly know the material at all. Found some narrow approach of your own and somersault in it. The history of enamel is many, many centuries, like glass or ceramics. During this time, mankind has come up with a lot and achieved. And hardly anyone will be able to master the whole experience in one life. Too much volume. But to acquaint superficially, to give the basics, probably, is necessary. After all, this is a very modern material, very promising, durable, which allows it to be actively introduced into the interiors of buildings. Therefore, I consider it important to conduct master classes and symposiums on enamel. You can get the basics of working with this magical material on them! This is interesting for both children and teachers of art schools.
On the site www.khors.org You can watch videos about the master class and about working with enamel. And at the exhibition itself to study it directly. You can meet the author at the Central House of Artists and ask questions on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Photographs of the paintings by Mikhail Selishchev.
