As a child, Nikolai was a member of the gypsy ensemble, in his composition traveled with tours. He became interested in painting after the family moved to Tambov. Nikolai studied at an art school, graduated from an art school.

The first significant exhibition of works by Nikolai Karpecki, which took place within the walls of the Romen Theater, was the beginning of the recognition of his talent. Most of the paintings from this exhibition were acquired by foreign collectors. Now they can be seen in the halls of galleries in different countries, next to the works of famous artists.

The artist did not come to the opening of the exhibition. Oleg Dautov, the organizer of the exhibition, says that such events do not matter to him.
