In Samara "ArtCenter" housed an exhibition of African painting Automatic translate
SAMARA. In Samara "ArtCenter" on September 4, a unique exhibition opens for three days only. Residents of the city will be able to get acquainted with modern painting in Africa. More specifically, the exhibition presents painting of one of the areas of African pictorial art that appeared in Tanzania in the middle of the past century.
This painting got its name from the founder of the direction - artist Eduardo Saidi Tingatinga, who was born in southern Tanzania in 1932. The artist began to paint in the mid-sixties, after moving to the largest city in the country - Dar es Salaam. At that time, this richest city in the country had the status of its capital.
The artist had no professional education, he painted using car paints. The basis of his paintings was any material on which the bright, colorful world of Africa, created by the artist’s brush, appeared. Myths and traditions, animals and birds came to life in the paintings of the painter. They were filled with the sun and the musical rhythms of African dances.
After the tragic death of Eduardo - a policeman’s bullet cut off his life, the artist left his students who devoted their lives to the development of the painting direction, called Tinga-Tinga.
The exhibition has 90 works belonging to a private collection. Its owner is the famous architect Andrei Valentinovich Smirnov in Samara. This unique collection includes works representing the main areas characteristic of the Ting-Ting school.
Here you can see complex compositions, where the everyday life of people is presented in the form of comic stories, mythological and biblical stories. A large part of the paintings is filled with images of birds and animals. The Ting-Ting school has long become a trend in world culture.
