An exhibition telling the history of the city has opened in Belgorod Automatic translate
BELGOROD. On August 1, the Belgorod Art Museum presented an exhibition whose uniqueness was not only the artistic value of the works that made up its exposition. The successfully accomplished task of its organizers was to remind residents of the city how the streets of Belgorod looked a few decades ago, to see ancient buildings that became historical monuments.
Some paintings by artists in the middle of the last century depict buildings that no longer exist. According to these paintings, viewers born at a time when these buildings disappeared from the city space can imagine what the city landscape would look like if old houses remained in their places.
The exhibition, called “The Old City - The New City”, is composed of works stored in the museum’s collection. The center of the exhibition was a painting by V.V. Kozmin. The exhibition was named after the name given by the author to his work. The picture housed two panoramas of Belgorod and the coat of arms of the city.
On one of the panoramas are images of the building of the Gymnasium, as well as monasteries and cathedrals that have not survived to this day. The landscape of the second panorama captures today’s sights of Belgorod, recognizable by the inhabitants of the city at a glance.
The exhibition presents the work of artists made in a variety of techniques. The main thing that united them in the exhibition space is the creative path of every talented master connected with Belgorod. Each master sees the city in his own way, but their works draw attention to the history of the city.
The exhibition is open on the occasion of the liberation of Belgorod, proudly bearing the title "City of Military Glory" from the Nazis. The museum awaits guests until August 25th.
