At the exhibition, 30 watercolor works of the master will be presented to the Kaluga people for the first time - portraits, landscapes, still lifes, historical compositions on the themes of the Time of Troubles.
Valery Andreyevich Ryabovol (born in 1944) - Honored Artist of Russia, Chairman of the Graphics Section of the Creative Union of Artists of Russia, Associate Professor of the Department of Academic Painting S.G. Stroganova. He was awarded the Silver Medal and a diploma of the Russian Academy of Arts, the gold medal of the Creative Union of Artists of Russia. Lives and works in Moscow.
The future artist was born in Severo-Zadonsk, Tula region, in the family of a mining engineer. He graduated from the Moscow Art School of Memory in 1905, and then the Moscow Higher Art and Industrial School (formerly Stroganovskoe). He studied under recognized teachers M.V. Dobroserdov and M. Voloshko. Although Valery Ryabovol graduated from the faculty of metal processing, drawing and painting classes were not in vain for him. A serious passion for watercolor and tempera directed his work in a completely different direction.
His favorite topics are rural and urban landscapes, floral still lifes. In landscape compositions, Kaluga citizens easily recognize the surroundings of their native city, to which V.A. Ryabovola is an old and strong attachment. He often comes to Kaluga - to stay with relatives, take a break from the bustle of the capital.
But first of all, and above all - to write: summer evenings on the Oka, flowering gardens, Zaoksky distant. In discreet motives of the Central Russian strip V.A. Ryabovol finds and knows how to convey to us, the audience, the beauty and charm of his native land, its modest charm.
The artist gave a lot of time and energy to such a difficult genre as a watercolor portrait. Indeed, in it, according to V. A. Ryabovol, the professional level of the artist is manifested, new techniques are being sought. A portrait is successful if it combines the freshness of an etude with the capacity of a finished image. These are the portraits of contemporaries, people of different professions and ages presented at the exhibition.
Interest in Russian history of the XVII century and knowledge of architecture played a big role in the professional work of Valery Ryabovol. In the 80s of the last century, he began work on a series of historical compositions on the themes of the Time of Troubles. The series contains key events and heroes of the era: Dmitry Pozharsky and his militia, an appeal to Muscovites Patriarch Germogen, the surrender of the Polish garrison, etc. For this work, V. A. Ryabovol was awarded the Commemorative Medal of the Russian Imperial House.
The works of V. A. Ryabovol are in the State Tretyakov Gallery, in the Kaluga Regional Art Museum, as well as in private collections in the USA, Spain, Yugoslavia, Romania, Italy, and Great Britain.
The exhibition will include master classes by V.A. Ryabovola for teachers and students of the painting department of the Kaluga College of Culture and Arts and children’s art schools of Kaluga.
