The Russian Museum presents a personal exhibition of Gennady Myznikov Automatic translate
ST. PETERSBURG. On May 21, a personal exhibition of the national artist of the Russian Federation Gennady Sergeyevich Myznikov, dedicated to the anniversary of the Moscow master of painting, was opened in the hall of the Marble Palace of the Russian Museum. Gennady Myznikov represents the generation of the “sixties”, whose work was influenced by artists who prefer the style of painting, known as the “severe style”.
Painters of the sixties largely used their achievements, but at the same time went their own way. Each of the artists strove to create their own, individual style. Since the exposition includes the works of Myznikov, created in different years, then they can be used to trace the evolution of the artist’s work.
In his early works, the influence of B. M. Kustodiev, expressed in the brightness of colors on canvases, emotionality and appeal to subjects from provincial life, is clearly visible. This period of creativity is marked by an appeal to popular popular art. The canvases created by the artist towards the end of the seventies become closer to classical Russian painting. In the works of Myznikov, allegorical plots dedicated to universal values appear.
In the artist’s later paintings, landscapes, still lifes and portraits predominate. The 2000s include a series of still lifes written in the style of old masters. A composition written in 2005 stands in a special place, where the traditions of the Renaissance are clearly visible, but tragic notes sound in its contents. The painting was called "Midnight Sky…". An angel bent over the ground sees the ruins lying beneath it. The static image is contrasted with unexpected expressiveness of color.
The exhibition, which runs on June 16, presents more than fifty paintings by the artist.
