Creativity of famous artists inspired by Pushkin in the Museum of the Poet Automatic translate

MOSCOW. The metropolitan museum of A.S. Pushkin invites all connoisseurs of pictorial art to an art exhibition. It consists of the works of famous artists, whose work belongs to the 19-20th century. The source of inspiration for all artists was the work of the great poet.

More than two hundred paintings, complemented by graphic and sculptural works, are presented at the opening exhibition. Its composition is also interesting in the selection of authors. Each of them is a representative of an art association born in the famous estate "Abramtsevo", which belongs first to the literary critic and S. T. Aksakov, and then to the philanthropist S. I. Mamontov.

Thanks to the asceticism of these people, Abramtsevo, which was originally an ordinary noble estate, turned into a well-known cultural center, uniting writers and artists. One of the factors that brought together people belonging to the creative intelligentsia of those years was their interest in Pushkin’s legacy.

The first of the artists belonging to the Abramtsevo art circle, turned to the work of the poet N.V. Nevrev. The ballad “Voivode” inspired him to create a large painting canvas, an episode from which became the plot of the artist’s painting. This painting didn’t seem too interesting to contemporaries, but Mamontov bought it by placing it in the Red Hall of the estate. It was there that the evenings of the art association took place.

Each of the works of artists created on Pushkin themes has an interesting history. Visitors to the exhibition will see one of the masterpieces created by M. Vrubel - the floor vase "Poet". In her complex drawing on her surface is hidden the profile of Pushkin.

The legacy of Abramtsev artists is available for inspection until August 3rd.
