MOSCOW. The Watercolor Museum, as part of the Watercolor Academy project “The Charm of Ancient Masterpieces”, continues to acquaint art connoisseurs with rare painting collections from museums in different regions of Russia. This time, visitors to the museum will see a collection of graphic works that arrived from Nizhny Novgorod.
The opening of the exhibition will be held on April 5th. The ceremony, the beginning of which is scheduled for 11-30, will be attended by the rector of the Academy Sergey Andriyaki, the leadership of the Nizhny Novgorod Museum, as well as teachers and students.
The exposition presents graphic works made by famous masters who worked from the 19th century to the beginning of the 20th century. For convenient acquaintance of visitors with the presented works, the exposition is divided into several sections, having examined which, one can trace the history of the development of the graphic genre.
The first part of the exhibition contains small-format portraits of the first half of the 19th century. Here are the works performed by A. Bryullov, V. Gau, K Gampelny.
The next section is dedicated to the masters of the second half of the 19th century. Graphic sheets placed in this part of the exhibition belong to the authors, whose names are known around the world. Kramskoy, Repin, Ge, Makovsky, Vasnetsov - a real constellation of artists.
The third section contains works of all genres - from realism to avant-garde, created by A. Benoit, V. Serov, Yaguzhinsky. They were created in the years when Russian graphics were in the period of the highest rise - the end of the 19th and the first decade of the next century.
The following is a graphic of the 20s of the last century and a section telling about the “Drawing School” created in Nizhny Novgorod by the philanthropist and educator Andrei Karelin.
The exhibition is open until May 25th.
