From landscapes to abstract canvases - exhibition of the painter Vitaly Redkin Automatic translate
SAMARA. For the first time in the last twenty years, Samara art lovers will be able to get acquainted in detail with the work of their fellow countryman, artist Vitaly Redkin. The exhibition can be called unique, since the artist, who began as a landscape painter, destroyed almost all his works written in the style of realism in the 80s. All subsequent work of Vitaly Redkin - paintings representing abstract art.
The art critic Tatyana Petrova, who is the curator of the exhibition, considers the term “magic realism” to be more accurate, saying that the ornaments on the artist’s canvases resemble sad landscapes. If the earlier works of Vitaliy Redkin were carefully painted landscapes, saturated with details, then in the works created later, they were transformed into abstract images.
How this transformation took place can be seen at the exhibition, the basis for which was the work of Vitaly Redkin from the collection of the artist Oksana Stogova, donated to the museum. A few more paintings were already in the museum collection.
Initially, in the paintings included in the exposition, the accents of landscape realism with elements of naive are felt, gray-green tones, shades of brown prevail. Then the landscape becomes "ascetic", more simplified.
The following canvases are filled with geometric shapes, in which elements representing specific symbols are still traced. On one of the artist’s paintings, hands are stretched out to the sky, more like tongues of flame. They simultaneously symbolize both prayer and a cry for help. Recent works of the artist are filled with unusual lines and shapes, color and optical effects.
The exhibition, representing more than 30 paintings by the artist Vitaly Redkin, is open on May 15th.
