The exposition space of the exhibition in the Ulyanovsk Art Gallery will be formed by paintings and graphic works from the funds of the Kaluga Regional Art Museum, the Ulyanovsk Art Gallery and a private collection of the artist’s family. Such a unique “artistic symbiosis” was made possible thanks to the participation in the project of the artist’s daughter Anna Iosifovna Senatova, who initiated a series of retrospective exhibitions of the artist in Kaluga.

Joseph Pavlishak was a native Kaluga. In 1939, he studied in the circle of the Palace of Pioneers. In 1942 he went to the front, participated in the Battle of Stalingrad. In 1945-1951 he studied at the State Art Institute of the Estonian SSR in the city of Tartu. Since 1953 he became a member of the Union of Artists of the USSR. He was a regular participant in zonal, republican, all-Union and foreign exhibitions. In 1972, Joseph Pavlishak was awarded the title of Honored Artist of the RSFSR. From 1957 to 1982, he was chairman of the Kaluga organization of the Union of Artists of the RSFSR.

Joseph’s works are different in color, voiced and speaking. Original, unique, he did not spare bright colors.

The artist’s works are in collections of museums and art galleries, in the collection of VTOO “Union of Artists of Russia”, in private collections in Russia and abroad.
