MOSCOW. The Museum of the East together with the Marjani Foundation opened an exhibition of the artist Valery Sakhatov on February 21 «Glare on the carpet». This exhibition was the result of a grandiose project, over which the artist worked since 2012. It was implemented with the assistance of the Marjani Foundation, which supports cultural programs.
The basis of the exposition was seven Turkmen carpets, commissioned by the author of the project by carpet-weavers from Turkmenistan, and seven paintings by Valery Sakhatov. These works belong to the author’s series «Still Life Formula». Written this cycle was influenced by the color characteristic of Turkmen carpets.
In 2010, the artist had the idea of creating copyright carpets. It took four years to embody it. The carpet composition was supplemented by other works of Valery Sakhatov performed by him over the last ten years. These picturesque cycles under the names «Palettes» and «Portrait without similarity» had previously participated in exhibitions.
Father Valery Sakhatov by nationality was a Turkmen, it is possible that therefore Turkmen culture attracted the attention of the artist. The artist himself was born in the Far East, where his father was exiled during the repressions. His native city is Nikolayevsk-on-Amur. Valery Taganovich received his art education in Khabarovsk Pedagogical Institute, where after his graduation he worked as a teacher of painting and drawing.
Personal exhibition Sakhatova was first held in Moscow, in 1982 year. She went to the editorial board of the magazine «Youth». In the same year in the life of the artist there were two more important events - he was admitted to the Union of Artists of the USSR, and also moved to Moscow. During these years, Valery Sakhatov had a lot of personal exhibitions, the artist’s works were purchased by many museums of different countries.
