Carpets and paintings by Valery Sakhatov at a personal exhibition in the Museum of the East Automatic translate
MOSCOW. The Museum of the East, together with the Marjani Foundation, on February 21 opened the exhibition of the artist Valery Sakhatov “Glare on the Carpet”. This exhibition was the result of a grandiose project, on which the artist worked since 2012. It was implemented with the assistance of the Mardzhani Foundation, which supports cultural programs.
The exposition was based on seven Turkmen carpets, commissioned by the project author by carpet-makers from Turkmenistan, and seven paintings, painted by Valery Sakhatov. These works belong to the author’s series "Still Life Formula". This cycle was written under the influence of the colors characteristic of Turkmen carpets.
In 2010, the artist came up with the idea of creating author’s carpets. It took four years to realize it. The carpet composition was complemented by other works by Valery Sakhatov, performed by him over the past ten years. These picturesque cycles under the names "Palettes" and "Portrait without resemblance" previously participated in exhibitions.
Valery Sakhatov’s father was a Turkmen by nationality, which is probably why the Turkmen culture attracted the attention of the artist. The artist himself was born in the Far East, where his father was exiled during the repression. His hometown is Nikolaevsk-on-Amur. Valery Taganovich received his art education at the Khabarovsk Pedagogical Institute, where after graduation he worked as a teacher of painting and drawing.
Sakhatov’s personal exhibition was first held in Moscow in 1982. She passed in the editorial office of the magazine "Youth". In the same year, two more important events took place in the artist’s life - he was admitted to the Union of Artists of the USSR, and also moved to Moscow. Over the years, Valery Sakhatov hosted many personal exhibitions, the artist’s works were acquired by many museums in different countries.
