The exhibition project "Moving From a Century…" is a large-scale exhibition project taking place in several regions of Russia. Its purpose is to familiarize viewers of the central regions with the unique artistic heritage of the museum collections of our country and the contemporary Russian art process; with those eternal moral values that are affirmed in the art of any era.
The peculiarity, “highlight” of this project is that the exhibitions planned within its framework will be held simultaneously in 9 central regions of Russia (Ryazan, Bryansk, Vladimir, Kaluga, Lipetsk, Orel, Tambov, Tver, Tula). At the same time, nearby regions should exchange their exhibits so that viewers of other regions can see the art not only of their region, but also make an idea of the creative process that is taking place on the territory of their neighbors. Such an approach will help to form a more complete view of modern trends in Russian art, to see the most vivid examples of painting, graphics, sculpture, decorative and applied and folk art.
The exhibition, which opened on Kaluga land, like the rest of the project’s exhibitions, consists of two parts, levels. The first part, multimedia, is a selection of digital images of the best works of regional museums of the XVIII-XX centuries. This use of new technologies in addition to traditional art allows viewers in our rapidly changing world to take a fresh look at classical art, see its connection with the modern foundations of life, and feel its timeless character.
The second part of the exhibition “Artist and Time” is the works of contemporary artists of central Russia (from Kaluga, Tula, Tver, Orel) of the XX-XXI centuries. At its exposition, one can see landscapes reflecting the attitude of modern man to nature and their complex interaction (M.A. Birshtein, E.G. Bragovsky, Shatrov V.V., N.V. Dochkin, L.S. Snegirev), paintings on plots from modern life (V.I. Volkov, M.Pilipenko), portraits of contemporaries (A.F. Dubov, D. Belousov), still lifes focused on the objective world that surrounds us (S. Samoletov), decorative objects applied and folk art, in which the continuity and development of traditions (MN Gumilevskaya) and others are traced.
The exhibition aims the viewer to assess themselves, their place and their role in the modern world, to understand their own responsibility for the spiritual heritage that will be left to future generations.
The main organizer of the exhibition project "From century to century…" is the Ryazan regional public organization of the All-Russian public organization "Russian Youth Union" in the framework of a grant allocated by the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation.
The exhibition runs until December 28, 2013.
