OMSK. “With a pen and a brush” - under this name, the exhibition of the famous watercolor master, Omsk artist Rimma Kamkina, opened on November 1 at the Art Museum “Liberov Center”. The exhibition hall housed more than a hundred works by Rimma Kamkina, performed by her since the 60s of the last century. The latest works presented at the exhibition date back to the year 2000. The organizers of the exhibition also planned to hold several creative meetings with the artist.
Rimma Kamkina creates her works in various genres, but the main theme of her work is the urban landscape. Her work reveals to the audience the beauty of the old streets of Omsk, the cities around Moscow, introduces the landscapes created on trips to the Baltic states. Many watercolors included in the exhibition are dedicated to St. Petersburg and Pushkin’s poetry.
The unique world of images created by Rimma Kamkina is based on the use of the best traditions of watercolor art. The artist’s mastery and talent allows in her watercolors to convey the special mood of the St. Petersburg streets of the Pushkin era. Experts believe that these very watercolors, made in gray-pearl colors, are most expressive.
St. Petersburg occupies a special place in the work of Rimma Kamkina, although for the first time she visited this unique city by an already established artist. Her acquaintance with the St. Petersburg bridges, palaces and embankments took place much earlier, through the work of Pushkin. In the watercolors created by the artist, there are poetic associations passed through real sensations.
In 1973, Rimma Kamkina was admitted to the Union of Artists of the Russian Federation. Her work is marked by many professional awards and the Governor’s Prize.
You can see the artist’s work until November 20th.
