The exhibition was created on the basis of a collection of paintings collected by a resident of Saratov, Alexei Sergeyevich Buyanin. In recent years, several exhibitions of painting have been held at the Radishchevsky Museum, where paintings by Western European artists from private collections of Saratov collectors have been presented.

However, the current exhibition is special - Alexander Sergeyevich gave the museum the opportunity to show his favorite paintings for free, without pursuing commercial goals. He wished to give an opportunity to everyone to get acquainted with the work of wonderful artists. “Barbizonians,” as young painters called themselves, are understandable to every person, even if he is not too big a connoisseur of painting art.

These young artists made a turn in art to realism, trying to convince their colleagues that it is not necessary to travel to Italy for beautiful landscapes. If you look closely at the modest nature surrounding the artist at home, then there is enough beauty in it worthy of being captured on canvases.

Each work presented at the exhibition has an author’s signature. The excellent quality of the painting speaks of the high skill of the authors, but almost nothing is known about their personalities. However, if you look at auction catalogs, it becomes obvious that interest in them is growing.
