Drawings and graphics from Vologda in the exhibition hall of the school of Sergey Andriyaka Automatic translate
MOSCOW. On August 23, an exhibition was opened at the exhibition complex at the specialized watercolor school, headed by Sergei Andriyaki, the exposition of which was created from exhibits stored in the collections of the Vologda Art Gallery.
The school of Sergey Andriyaka is connected with Vologda by fruitful cooperation. Twice, in 2009 and 2012, Sergei Andriyaki presented exhibitions in Vologda created from the works of teachers and students of his School of Watercolor, master classes were held for Vologda painters.
The new project, called “Masterpieces of Museum Collections”, will even more closely connect the capital’s watercolor masters with the Vologda Art Gallery. The Vologda Gallery is deservedly proud of its graphic collection. It began to be collected back in the period 1905-1920, when lovers of fine arts, united in a society called the Northern Circle, acquired the work of artists at their own expense.
These works later became the basis of the collection of Russian graphics collected by the Vologda Art Gallery. Further, the collection was replenished by the forces of art gallery workers. Today, the Vologda Gallery has a voluminous selection of works by graphic artists who were former members of the World of Art association of artists.
Gradually, a large collection of graphic artists from Vologda was formed in the gallery. Initially, these were single copies, but later, realizing the historical and artistic value of this material, gallery workers began to take a more serious approach to replenishing the collection. Now in the collections of the gallery there is a solid collection of modern Vologda masters.
An exhibition of graphics from the Vologda Art Gallery will run in the capital until the end of October.
