Exhibition "Light of Heaven" - Biblical painting by Zaven Arshakuni Automatic translate
ST. PETERSBURG. The Atrium Exhibition Hall, which is part of the Museum of the History of Religion, invites art lovers to visit an exhibition of works by the famous St. Petersburg painter who passed away in the fall of 2012, Zaven Petrosovich Arshakuni.
The creative legacy of the artist is so diverse that it is difficult to list all the genres of art, where his talent was manifested with great success. The exhibition "Light of Heaven", which opened on June 28, features about thirty paintings and graphic works by Zaven Arshakuni.
Most of the works presented in the exhibition are directly or indirectly associated with biblical motifs, and landscape churches depict Orthodox churches. The picturesque scenes on biblical themes are written in a naive manner, surprisingly bright and sunny.
Typically, the artist avoided everyday details in such works, especially the binding to a specific time. However, in the painting “Annunciation”, Virgin Mary is no different from our contemporaries - she has her hair and clothes from today, and her book on her lap is clearly modern.
In addition to paintings, after Zaven Arshakuni there were books designed by the artist, created sets and costumes for theatrical performances. The artist was also engaged in painting porcelain and woodcarving.
Graduate of the Institute. Repin, Zaven Arshakuni since 1964 is a member of the Union of Artists, and since 2007, a corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Arts. His merits in the field of art are marked by gold and silver medals of the Academy of Arts. During the life of the artist, more than fifty of his personal exhibitions took place, and the number of exhibitions where his works participated was close to three hundred.
The exhibition "Light of Heaven" will run until July 14th.
