In honor of the upcoming Universiade 2013, in the Hazine Gallery located in the Kazan Kremlin, on May 13, the grand opening of the exhibition took place, the exposition of which was composed of works of art dedicated to sports. At the exhibition, called “Sport. Health. Beauty ”, more than 190 works by artists of Russia and Tatarstan will appear before visitors.

In the works representing the works of painters from Tatarstan, sports subjects are closely connected with the traditionally beloved holiday of the Tatar people - Sabantuy. Most of the paintings exhibited in the exhibition halls were delivered from the collections of the Tretyakov Gallery, the St. Petersburg Russian Museum and the Moscow Museum of Physical Culture and Sports.

One of the most recognizable exhibits of the exhibition is the bronze sculpture “The Girl with the Oar”. In the Soviet years it was difficult to find a park that would not be decorated with a copy of this famous sculpture. Its author is Ivan Shadr. The famous artist Aleksandr Deyneka is presented at the exhibition as a sculptor. Although Deineka gained fame for his large-scale paintings, visitors to the exhibition will see the sculptural composition “Relay” performed by him.

The legend of Soviet photography Alexander Rodchenko is shown at the exhibition from a side unfamiliar to a wide circle of visitors to the exhibition. The exhibition includes two paintings in the style of expressionism. It should be noted that in the exhibition halls there are also modern photographs on sports themes that organically complement the works of painting and graphics.

A separate section of the exhibition, open until July 21, was sports awards and Olympic souvenirs, many of which have long been rarities.
