The art department of the Vologda Museum-Reserve on April 25 opened an exhibition of works by Vladislav Sergeyev, preceding the 75th anniversary of the Honored Artist of the Russian Federation. The exhibition, called "Northern Poems", included works from the collections of museums, the Vologda art gallery and stored in the personal collection of the painter.

The grand opening of the exhibition gathered in the museum hall not only the artist’s colleagues and admirers of his work, but also the heroes of the portraits painted by the artist. Together with congratulations, the Deputy Governor Oleg Vasiliev presented the artist with memorable gifts - a new seven-volume book by Vasily Belov and watches decorated with the symbols of the Vologda region.

The organizers approached the creation of the exposition of the Northern Poems exhibition thoroughly. More than three hundred works of the artist were divided into five collections, each of which is a certain stage of his work. In each block, except for works of art, photographs and documents are included that tell about the biography of Vladislav Sergeyev.

The first part of the exhibition presents graphic works - an early hobby of the artist, who wrote a series of portraits of miners. Graphic works by Vladislav Sergeyev are not only portraits. In his creative luggage, illustrations to books occupy a special place. The artist designed a lot of book editions, but the most famous are poetry collections by Nikolai Rubtsov, with whom Sergeyev was personally acquainted and even visited the poet at home.

In addition to graphic works, the exhibition’s exposition included paintings with landscapes, genre paintings and a real gallery of portraits, from the paintings of which people familiar to many people look at the visitors.
