KALININGRAD. The fairy tale “The Nutcracker and the Mouse King”, written by the romantic of Königsberg Ernst Theodor Amadeus Hoffmann, is almost two hundred years old, but it still has the ability to inspire people to new works of art. Films were made based on this tale, musical compositions were written, and ballet performances were staged on the most famous stages.

In the regional art museum of the city of Kaliningrad, the exhibition “Spell The Nutcracker” began, dedicated to an amazing fairy tale, beloved by people, regardless of their age, which makes one believe in miracles performed in the name of justice.

The exhibition’s exposition includes more than fifty works, for which a fairy tale, still exciting new generations of children and adults, served as a source of inspiration. The works were performed in various genres of art - painting and photography, graphics and applied art.

The Batman "Countrymen" presented for the exhibition, made by the artist living in America, Lyudmila Mistratova, became the decoration of the exhibition. Placed on the exhibition stands are also illustrations for the works of Hoffmann, made by artists of different countries, created since the 70s of the last century. The Nutcrackers themselves settled at the exhibition.

The organizers of the exhibition planned within the framework of the project not only acquaintance with the artistic dedications of the fairy tale, but also meetings with the creators of the Nutcracker dolls, listening to Tchaikovsky’s musical plays included in the Nutcracker ballet.

The most serious part of the project was the presentation of a book written by Leonard Kalinikov, a professor at Kant University. This work is a comparison of the work of Kant and Hoffmann. All the wonders of the exhibition can be seen until the end of April.
