State Museum of Architecture A.V. Schuseva invites to the exhibition "Infinitive" Automatic translate
MOSCOW. On March 20, the opening of the Infinitive exhibition, which includes the works of urban artist Ivan Lungin, will be held in the Ruin wing of MuAr. The exposition includes 20 canvases depicting ruins that speak the language of metaphors with the audience and are a kind of replacement for the indefinite form of the verb.
In the field of view of Ivan Lungin throughout his life came architectural structures, which are symbols of a certain era. His previous exhibitions have dedicated the theme of factories, underground bunkers, faceless concrete boxes. But this exhibition is unique because it illustrates special structures - unfinished or completely abandoned factories, houses, fences. The peak of interest in him is caused by the era of “unfinished construction”, when thousands of construction projects began throughout thousands of Russia, which were not destined to be completed.
A country of ruins whose construction sites are more reminiscent of mass abortions or miscarriages than the desire to create something useful, viable. The artist investigated this phenomenon and tried to give him his creative verdict. Therefore, on his canvases there are no living people. People lie, but things are not capable of deception. The traces of human activity depicted on his canvases are a powerful reproach to the whole people, which made it possible to turn their cities and villages into ruins.
In addition, each picture is characterized by a surprisingly thin pictorial layer. Carefully selected colors emphasize the silence of these structures and invites us to peer into their emptiness. The pictures of doom give a new understanding of beauty and raise the question: “Which is better: to be destroyed or to always show your ugly decomposition?”. The answer lies in his paintings.
