"Portraits of the Unknown" was brought to Lipetsk from the capital’s museum of A. S. Pushkin Automatic translate
LIPETSK. “Portraits of the Unknown” - this is the name of the exhibition, for the placement of which the Regional Art Museum has allocated three rooms. The exposition of the exhibition is made up of 38 portraits of Pushkin’s contemporaries delivered to Lipetsk from the funds of the A.S. Pushkin Moscow Museum.
The main place at the exhibition is allocated for works most closely associated with the personality of Alexander Sergeyevich. The exhibition begins with a stand, which contains various versions of the image of Pushkin, written by artists during his lifetime. Here you can see the portrait of a three-year-old boy, the original of which is displayed at the exhibition, the classic portrait of Alexander Pushkin, painted by Orest Kiprensky, and self-portrait painted in ink by everyone since childhood.
Under the same name, in 1969, an exhibition was held in Moscow, in the museum of A. S. Pushkin. At that time, about 80 unidentified portraits belonging to the Pushkin era were stored in the museum funds. Thanks to the research, the mystery of many images is revealed. The first hall of the exhibition is devoted to just such portraits.
It took several decades to establish who is depicted in miniature depicting a small child. Even medical experts were involved in the work. As a result, it was proved that this miniature is a portrait of Pushkin for children, painted by the artist Xavier de Mestre, who knew his parents closely.
The next two rooms are filled with portraits of people, most of whom have a direct connection with Pushkin and his era. The lengthy, sometimes similar to detective inquiry, work of museum experts, allowed the heroes of the paintings to find names, as well as establish their authors.
The exhibition will remain in Lipetsk until February 25th.
