"Russian North" - the nature of the White Sea and Yamal at an exhibition in St. Petersburg Automatic translate
ST. PETERSBURG. In the “Square” hall of the exhibition center of the St. Petersburg Union of Artists, located on Morskaya Street, on the evening of January 7, the exhibition “Russian North” opened. The paintings and graphic works that made up the exposition of the exhibition became a creative report of artists who worked from March to October in open airs, traveling on the White Sea and the Yamal Peninsula.
These unique trips were organized by the Artists of Russia - 20-21 Century creative center. The impressions of the trip will remain in the memory of artists for a long time. Some members of the expedition worked in the region of the White Sea islands, having visited the Karelian coast, visiting the Onega and Soroka Bay. The journey was long, began in March, and ended only in October.
The rest in August and September managed to visit the Yamal Peninsula and make a trip to the Polar Urals. During this journey, the artists visited the Jade Gorge, painted in canyons surrounding the Hanmei River, sailed along the Sob River, from where the Rais Plateau can be seen. During the trip, all-terrain vehicles were the main means of transportation. About five hundred kilometers were covered along the tundra of the Yamal Peninsula, the same along the northern Urals.
Remarkable paintings written by artists in various techniques will now allow visitors to the Russian North exhibition to touch the harsh and majestic beauty of the northern landscapes, to get to know the people who became the heroes of these paintings.
According to the head of the creative center Nikolai Syulgin, whose watercolors are also presented at the exhibition, such expeditions have been taking place for eight years. The project involves more than a hundred artists, but not everyone risks traveling on an expedition.
You can see the "Russian North" on January 13th.
