Fifteen years of his life, Yuri Raksha devoted his work to Mosfilm, where over the years he acted as a stage director in fifteen films. Most of his works in cinema are widely known; to date, they are popular with the public. Among them were such famous films as “Dersu Uzala”, Larisa Shepitko’s work “Ascent”. For work in the film "Dersu Uzala" the main artist of the film was awarded the Oscar.

After the award ceremony, the director of the film, the famous director Akira Kurosawa, noted that he did not have to work with a more professional artist. Although most of the filming took place in the taiga, the efforts of the director helped to look like the Far Eastern landscapes on film were natural.
