A lot of information about this battle was obtained from the story "Zadonshchina", written in years close to the Battle of Kulikovo. For a complete picture of the course of the battle, the Kulikovo field itself was also visited.

All the important milestones of this battle - the feat of the Russian soldiers in the battle that took place in 1380, are shown with great emotionality by the master on the canvases that made up the Kulikovo Field cycle. There are thirty works in total in this cycle, on which the master worked until 1980. The first public performance took place in the same year in the museum of the city of Tula.

The exposition of the Kaluga exhibition contains 22 canvases from a cycle written by the painter. Before the visitors of the exhibition will appear the most important, most symbolic heroes of this legendary battle.
