Since December 21, an exhibition has begun to work in the regional art museum, which has long been awaited by art lovers of the city of Kaluga. “Kulikovo Field” is a series of works written by the People’s Artist of the USSR Ilya Glazunov. The famous painter worked for several years on his project dedicated to the Russian soldiers who defeated the horde of the Tatar-Mongols.
The artist embodied his plan, constantly studying historical materials, annals, recorded folk legends. A lot of information about this battle was obtained from the story "Zadonshchina", written in years close to the Battle of Kulikovo. There are thirty works in total in this cycle, on which the master worked until 1980. The first public performance took place in the same year in the museum of the city of Tula.
