Academy of Sergey Andriyaka presents the exhibition "Small Homeland" Automatic translate
In Moscow, in the main building of the Sergey Andriyaka Academy of Watercolors, on December 14, the exhibition "The Small Homeland" will be solemnly opened, which will present the work of our contemporary artist Gennady Provatorov. His paintings tell about the life of the people at a turning point in our country.
Genre painting in our time is not a very popular form of art, but only paintings that artistically reflect life can give our descendants an idea of people who lived in a difficult time for the country, as well as their life. The last years of the life of Gennady Provatorov, the main theme of his work was the life of the Russian peasantry.
Gennady Provatorov came into the profession of an artist as usual for a boy from an intelligent family (his father was a famous conductor G.P. Provatorov) through the art school at the Surikov Institute, and then, after serving in the army, he entered the Moscow Higher Art School, in those years called "Stroganov." The teacher of Gennady was Helium Mikhailovich Korzhev, People’s Artist of the USSR, who remained his mentor all his life. Korzhev instilled in the young artist a love for the Russian landscape, which in those years became the main theme of his work.
The changes that happened in the country in 1992 caused a loss of interest in art, which was painfully experienced by the artist. He decided to change his life and moved from the capital to a small village located in the Tver region, where he wrote his best works. A series of paintings under the general title “Lonely”, written by Provatorov, became a real story about Russian people. At the same time portraits of the villagers were painted.
You can get acquainted with the work that passed away in January 2012 of the artist until February 10th.
