In Novokuznetsk show visitors a little-known engravings of Picasso Automatic translate

The exposition of Picasso’s genuine works traveling around Russia consists of 105 lithographs that are part of the large-scale and most frank series of engravings Suite 347, which received this name in the number of works created by the master in a little more than six months in 1968. It is worth noting that at that time Picasso was already 87 years old.

Suite 347, in addition to engravings with the motifs of the world of theater, circus and bullfighting, included a large number of works filled with eroticism, made in the form of frank scenes with characters unrestrained in sensual impulses. The artist’s heightened emotionality, despite his age, full of life, is mixed in his works with stylistic searches.

Several decades after the master created this cycle, Suite 347 was practically inaccessible to the audience. The reasons for this were not only a limited edition (the works were made in only fifty copies), but also censorship restrictions. The lithographs presented at the exhibition were released from the artist’s drawings in 1990-1992, commissioned by the Malheim Museum located in Germany. The circulation of the publication was 300 copies, one of which, owned by the French collector, was first shown to a Russian audience.

Picasso’s engraving exhibition will remain in Novokuznetsk until the end of January, and will travel further around the country in February.
