In St. Petersburg, in the halls of the Manege exhibition complex, on November 8, the personal opening of the St. Petersburg artist Zaven Arshakuni, one of the artists of the famous Leningrad school, began with a grand opening. The exhibition was dedicated to the eightieth anniversary, the anniversary of the artist’s life, but it so happened that it turned into an event dedicated to the memory of Zaven Petrosovich Arshakuni.
A talented master, who left a significant mark in his various works in various fields of pictorial art, passed away before he could see the opening of the most voluminous personal exhibition of his work. A gold medal from the Russian Academy of Arts and a gold mantle were awarded to Zaven Petrosovich at the opening ceremony of the exhibition posthumously.
The whole life of the artist was connected with St. Petersburg. Here he was born, the boy survived the blockade, the death of his parents. After returning from evacuation, studying at the Secondary School of Art at the Academy of Arts, Zaven took the first steps into the world of professional painting. Then the young artist continued his studies at the Repin Institute.
Together with the first works shown at exhibitions in the early seventies, Zaven Arshakuni gained fame, and his phenomenal abilities and amazing work ability allowed the artist not to stop at one genre of painting. The artist used his talent in painting and graphics, in his creative luggage, nine decorated performances, illustrations for books, sketches for stained glass, porcelain painting and even wood carving.
The exhibition, which will receive visitors on November 24, presents 300 works from the collections of the country’s main museums, covering all facets of the creative world of Zaven Petrosovich Arshakuni.
