Although the title of the exhibition contains a mention of Vladivostok, in its exposition, in addition to the artist’s favorite places of the city, captured on canvases, landscapes of the south and north of the Primorsky Territory, painted over the past year, and still lifes are presented. The basis of the exhibition was 25 paintings by Sergey Cherkasov, of which eight works will be included in the calendar, the presentation of which was traditionally held at the opening of the exhibition.
Cherkasov devoted many years to his book graphics. During his work in the book publishing house of Vladivostok with illustrations by the artist, more than three hundred books were published, and at the current exhibition, which opened on October 23, the 24th edition of Cherkasov’s calendars with reproductions of his copyright works on the Primorsky Territory was presented.
At the opening of the exhibition, Sergey Cherkasov promised the assembled admirers of his work that the next traditional solo exhibition will be held in his own gallery, which is scheduled to open next year. This means that acquaintance with the artist’s new works for residents of Vladivostok will become more accessible. Cherkasov has more than twenty personal exhibitions on his account, which took place in Russian cities and traveled abroad. His works took part in the Art Shanghai Fair, which is one of the main exhibitions of contemporary art in the Pacific.
The exhibition will continue to run until November 11th.
