The creative heritage of Alexey Zhabsky is represented by the Museum of A.S. Pushkin Automatic translate
In the exhibition hall of the Moscow Museum A.S. Pushkin, located on the Arbat, began the work of the exhibition, representing the paintings and graphic works of the artist Alexei Zhabsky. The artist did not have personal exhibitions during his lifetime, but his painting, which took part in major art shows, always attracted the attention of art connoisseurs.
The name of Alexei Zhabsky was well known not only to colleagues in the brush, but also to collectors of painting. The inherent modesty of the artist only emphasized the artistic value of his work. Zhabsky did not paint huge canvases, his landscapes and still lifes did not stand out at exhibitions of size, but invariably attracted the attention of visitors with their lightness, fullness of warm, soft light.
If the paintings by Alexei Zhabsky are in the collections of museums and have been published in art publications, then the artist’s graphic heritage, representing watercolors, pastel and pencil drawings, has not been presented to the public before. At the current exhibition, visitors will be able to see in addition to paintings, thirty watercolors and more than twenty pencil drawings.
Alex began to draw in early childhood. The artist spoke about himself that all his childhood memories are connected with pencil drawings, which were drawn until nothing remained of the pencil. He received his initial art education at the Sverdlovsk Art College, and then continued his studies in the capital, graduating from the Surikov Institute.
The artist’s works are diverse, in his work there were portraits and genre scenes. But the main love remained landscapes and still lifes. Wonderful landscapes of Moscow and St. Petersburg, unusual still lifes, will delight visitors to the exhibition until October 29th.
