The expanses of the Volga and miniature graphics at the exhibition of Pavel Maskaev in Saratov Automatic translate
The Radischevsky Museum of Saratov, in its branch located in the museum-estate of the painter V.E. Musatov, opened a personal exhibition of Pavel Maskaev, Honored Artist of Russia, painter and graphic artist. With this exhibition, the team of museum workers at the estate-museum completes events dedicated to the painter’s anniversary - his sixtieth birthday.
Even the name of the exhibition speaks of the artist’s love for the beauty of nature, which is the subject of much of his paintings. “A white cloud is a shadow…” - this is how the artist called not only his personal exhibition, but also one of the last works written in the summer during a creative trip to Khvalynsk.
The beauty of the Volga coasts in the vicinity of Khvalynsk became for the artist one of his favorite places from where he draws inspiration for writing surprisingly bright landscapes, painted with a predominance of silver shades. For many artists of the country, Khvalynsk becomes a creative workshop in the summer months, and Pavel Maskaev is an active organizer of these trips to the homeland of the Famous Petrov-Vodkin for inspiration.
At the opening exhibition, the artist showed his works of different years. One study from a private collection, refers to the beginning of Maskaev’s career, he was written while studying at the Saratov School of Arts. A separate place is occupied by the works written by Pavel Maskaev in the places where the works of Borisov-Musatov were created - the estate Zubrilovka.
In addition to landscapes, the exhibition found a place for still lifes written in bright, saturated colors, and graphic works are represented by the Fantasy series, written in a complex technique and permeated with both lyrics and humor. There is no doubt that Maskaev will delight with new works, and the current exhibition will work until November 30.
