The Belgorod Art Museum opened the anniversary exhibition "The Kaleidoscope of Life" by artist Evgeny Nikolayevich Savotchenko. A personal exhibition of the painter takes place within the walls of the museum, which for Savotchenko is not just a place intended for the exhibition of paintings. The artist was the head of the museum from 1987 to 1989. The exhibition shows a long period of the artist’s creative life - paintings created since 1970. The paintings written over the past five years, the public will see for the first time.
The exhibition exposition is composed of more than 150 paintings made in a wide range of genres. Landscapes and portraits, epic paintings and storylines are presented here. Large-scale canvases devoted to the history of Russia and portraits with images of famous Russian figures occupy a special place in Savotchenko’s work. These works are highlighted in a separate block of the exhibition.
The artist devoted many works to the Patriotic War, during the years of which Savotchenko spent his childhood. Genre paintings, portraits of veterans and images of monuments, with their emotionality touch the souls of the audience. Portraits created by the artist deserve special mention. In each portrait painted by Savotchenko, one can see not only the external similarity of the image of the sitter, but also his personality, his inner world.
A considerable part of the exhibition area is occupied by canvases written for the glory of Orthodoxy, dedicated to the patron saint of the region, St. Joasaph. Each of Savotchenko’s works has realism and sincerity, reflects the author’s position on the events described by him on canvases. The painter’s works adorn the collections of museums in Belgorod, private collections of paintings by connoisseurs of painting.
