Baltic Biennale - a grandiose project in St. Petersburg Automatic translate
Today for St. Petersburg has become an important date in the cultural life of the city. On October 25, the long-term art project “Baltic Biennale” begins, which is being held in St. Petersburg for the third time. The creator and main organizer of the project was the St. Petersburg Diaghilev Center for the Arts.
St. Petersburg State University and the city committee for external relations also took part in the organization of the project. For major projects, the Biennale provided its halls with a total area of more than two thousand square meters, the Rizzordi Art Foundation art space. This year, the curators of the Baltic Biennale approached the creation of a project with a new principle for its organization.
Now this is not a single project, but exhibitions of various directions presented at several exhibition venues in the city. The metaphor expressing the essence of the third Baltic Biennale will be the designation of the cultural proximity and originality of the countries of the Baltic region - the Baltic Archipelago. The main role in this year’s project is assigned to young artists whose names are still little known to the general public. Artists from Germany and Poland, Sweden and Finland take part in the biennale.
According to the directions of the exhibition, the projects are divided as follows;
- “Baltic” - a display of works by Baltic artists and Scandinavian countries;
- “Petersburg / New Layer” - represents the works of young Russian artists:
- “Tower of Power” - an exhibition of works by artists in the style of underground.
Presentations and discussions will be held on the main venue - the Rizzordi Art Foundation halls during the project. The project also provides for a series of round tables under the motto “I and the world” and a case study. The project will run until November 8th.
