Pablo Picasso’s works will be seen by residents of Sakhalin Island Automatic translate
The residents of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk had the opportunity to see unique works by the famous Spanish artist Pablo Picasso. An exhibition began in the Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk Art Museum, materials for which were brought by Alexander Shadrin, a collector in Yekaterinburg.
All the works of the great Spaniard that made up the exhibition are the property of the collector. Visitors will be able to see graphic works and ceramics, the manufacture of which Picasso was passionate about almost thirty years of his life.
Linocuts were acquired by A. Shadrin back in 2003, but the collector managed to get ceramic products only this summer, when the famous auction Christie sold the inheritance of the Ramier family, with whom Pablo Picasso worked together in the post-war years. Shadrin acquired 50 works made of ceramics. Even the State Hermitage Museum has only twelve ceramic items.
Forty-five linocuts, which are exhibits of the exhibition, are of particular interest to its visitors. The technique of their execution is truly unique. Picasso’s love of experimentation was reflected in this type of graphic, making it unlike ordinary linocuts. Using wet paper when working with oil paints, the master gave volume to his works, and sprinkling them with sand, created works that resembled woodwork in appearance.
The main theme of linocuts from the collection of A. Shadrin is bullfighting - a symbol and essence of Spanish national traditions. Among the works of Picasso presented at the exhibition, there is a real exclusive - lithography with the name "Villa California", on the back of which there is a sketch of the hand of the master.
The exhibition will be available to Sakhalin residents until the ninth of October.
