The international project “Image of Russia” presented in Moscow an exhibition of paintings by contemporary artists from Europe, which began its work in the Tsereteli Art Gallery. A project designed to consider the interaction of two cultures, Western European and Russian, the fruit of the joint work of the Russian Academy of Arts, the Kraft-Pavlova Foundation, Rossotrudnichestvo.

The opened painting exhibition is the first part of the project, it can be seen until September 30 inclusive. It shows the work of sixteen well-known artists from Western European countries. Artists from Germany and Belgium, Portugal and Spain, France and Switzerland brought their works to the exhibition. Artist Toby Wright introduced the smallest country - Monaco. Visitors to the exhibition are given the opportunity to see samples of various areas of work by contemporary painters, which are both figurative and abstract painting.

Presenting their work, artists will make creative trips to St. Petersburg and Moscow. For two weeks, artists will get acquainted with Russian culture, history, get acquainted with the Russians. Such a journey should enable artists to see the diversity of the country’s cultural life. According to the terms of the project, during the trip each painter will paint two paintings in which their opinion about modern Russia will be expressed.

Then the second part of the project program will take place - an exhibition of works created during the trip, for which the same exhibition venue - Tsereteli Gallery will be provided. This phase of the project will take place from the second to the seventh of October. A professional jury will appreciate the works of artists, and the best work of the project will be donated to the President of the Russian Federation.
