Parallel worlds of Tatyana Nazarenko Automatic translate
The Tretyakov Gallery on Krymsky Val presented Tatyana Nazarenko’s anniversary exhibition “Fragments”. Her work is very personal, the artist explores the life of people through the prism of individual sensations. Existing in a constant dialogue with different eras, Nazarenko includes the historical context in his works: in the present, the outlines of the past are visible, in one generation the features of another appear. It captures the transparency of time on the canvas, combining iconic figures and phenomena torn from the time stream in a picture. Her Pugachev and Narodnaya Volya, written in the seventies, embody a spiritual rebellion against a rigid social framework.
The circle of the artist’s favorite models of that time included friends, lovers, family, written in a creative atmosphere of gatherings in the workshop, home concert. In new works, the characters of her paintings are beggars, girls, security guards, homeless people next to architectural remodels, cars abandoned under the snow. To this day, Nazarenko is experimenting with materials and the plane of the picture, trying to go beyond the traditional forms of painting. She makes "tricks" - a plywood sculpture, brought to the limit in her realism, uses polyurethane foam on canvas.
In the artist’s recent works, critical pathos is combined with a deep experience of reality, the absurdity of what is happening is laid bare by an indifferent look, which indicates a living creative process.
