Diana Surzhina. Report from the studio of the artist. Automatic translate
The task of each creative person is to create a new layer in art. The singer’s singularity is especially important - both fame and criticism will fall to him. The second black and any other color square will no longer be a breakthrough in perception, a violation of traditions, causing delight or disgust.
Artist Diana Surzhina is one of the first to actively use the capabilities of new technologies in traditional art. Her paintings receive prizes at international competitions, and illustrations are published in books.
Computer technology in painting is still unusual for the mass audience and is often perceived - “well, this is a computer painted,” and not as the same tool as an artist’s brush.
The workshop of Diana Surzhina, a professional artist and programmer, combines a modern computer and real colors. Starting the process of creating a picture, she goes to the festival of reenactors and asks the guys to pose for her for a new plot. After processing the photos, he takes up the brushes and makes several sketches, the images of which are again downloaded to the computer and gives them the final look. And again, the drawing returns to the canvas.
What is more in her work: programming or drawing?
- After graduating from the MIIT Construction Faculty, I had to travel a lot around the country and draw up graphs of the dependence of various processes on random variables - this required the knowledge of several computer programs: design and design.
Having studied them for more than a dozen, I found ways to combine these programs so that completely new results were obtained. Then I wanted to see how the works of art would look after a sophisticated run of them through the filters. There is such a tendency among programmers - product testing.
Today, machines are being created that not only accurately print a masterpiece on canvas, but also convey the thickness and texture of the paint. Many photographers can now seem to paint portraits.
- Paint. Demand for the figure remained. Why? The picture should be different from the photo. A good artist is able to convey emotions, remove excess, reveal the best. I want to bring joy. I do not want to condemn this world or fight against something - in my paintings I try to collect warmth. Therefore, people are smiling on my canvases, my churches are lit by the sun. I draw modern people and today’s Moscow - this is my world and it is peaceful and happy, even if in real life this is not always the case.
Why churches? Are you a believer?
- After the time of Perestroika, I was engaged in the restoration of churches for several years and realized that regardless of faith, the architectural structure of the temple attracts people like beautiful flowers among gray boxes. The radiance of the golden dome gives confidence to a person in the reliability of his life, gives some higher meaning to existence.
The exhibition "Domes of Moscow" is mainly work for a guide to Moscow, published so far only in German. Next year, I hope it will be released for the Russians.
