Если знать что здесь сам Суриков (прадед Никиты Михалкова) написал портрет своего родного брата ("двоюродного прадедушки" Никиты) хочется тихо прошептать булгаковское "как причудливо тасуется кровь"... ;)

The subject’s attire consists of a dark suit jacket and a crisp white shirt with a bow tie, suggesting a degree of formality or professional standing. The brushwork is loose and expressive; the textures are visible, particularly in the rendering of the hair and clothing. Here we see an attempt to capture not just likeness but also a sense of vitality through energetic strokes.
The man’s face dominates the composition. His gaze is direct and intense, conveying a feeling of introspection or perhaps even challenge. A prominent mustache adds to his assertive appearance. The artist has employed subtle shading around the eyes and mouth to suggest depth and complexity in his expression. Theres an ambiguity present; it isnt entirely clear whether he’s inviting connection or maintaining distance.
The overall impression is one of a man possessing both intellectual gravity and a certain restless energy. The lack of environmental context contributes to this sense of isolation, suggesting that the portrait aims to capture something beyond mere physical representation – a glimpse into the subject’s inner world or character. The paintings style hints at an interest in capturing fleeting moments and subjective impressions rather than adhering to strict realism.
