Painter: Isaac Ilyich Levitan
Isaac Levitan, in spite of his hard fate, painted a great deal and left a legacy of many landscapes of magnificent beauty. All his works are expressive and reverberate with love for the homeland. Simple subject of the landscape shows Levitan’s respect for the nature of his native land. In the painting "Near the shore. Boats" Levitan depicted a quiet summer day. He can’t see the sky on the canvas, but it is clear that the sun is high and it is reflected in the ripples of the waves. In the foreground there are three wooden boats standing on a sandy beach.

On the side of them can be seen large wooden bridges. The water takes up the rest of the space. It seems to be endless. Looking at the picture you want to think about life, its tranquil rhythm. The water is simple, like nature itself, there is no evil, flattery and lies that surround the artist in life. The river on this day is quiet, only small ripples disturb its solemn tranquility. The artist has not depicted a single person on the canvas, emphasizing the silence and tranquility of the moment.
Levitan - a true master of landscape, his paintings as if alive. He shows nature in its smallest details, in all its many facets. Blue water, which occupies most of the composition, is beautiful. The small waves that sparkle in the sun beckon one to take a dip in it or take a ride on a boat that’s empty on the shore. The absence of the sky in the picture gives a sense of boundlessness of water space.
Levitan uses warm colors in his landscape "Near the Shore. Boats" with warm shades of colors, without any bright spots. This technique makes the work calm, warm and soulful. The yellow-brown sand seems to be warm, warming the soul and the body, because it is the native Russian soil. Levitan wanted to make the viewer think about the eternal, about the meaning of life and existence. Water in the picture makes the viewer think that life is fleeting, but nature is eternal.

The picture has something of this: water, outdoors, seashore, landscape, ocean, watercraft, evening, lake, reflection, beach, sea, sunset, dawn, rock, scenic, placid, daylight, recreation.
Perhaps it’s a painting of a body of water with a boat in the foreground and a rock outcropping on the other side of the water.
