Description of Isaac Levitan’s painting "Autumn. Birches."
The painting was painted by Levitan in 1899.

Autumn changed the whole nature. All the thick summer greenery was gradually washed away by the rains, the trees were dressed in orange and yellow outfits. The once dense forests became translucent, completely through. Summer with its exuberant colors was replaced by purple and gold in the fall.
The artist loved this time of year. He looked forward to it with the greatest impatience and great trepidation. How many autumn days he transferred to his canvases. It is known almost a hundred paintings, devoted to autumn, and that’s not reading sketches.
Each time on the artist’s canvases autumn appears in a new way. In this picture we see quite familiar to us all from childhood. Birch trees are still dressed in fancy bright outfits of yellow and red leaves, the wind has not had time to blow them away. The sky is so unusual that it is painfully reminiscent of the still very thin first ice on the river.
We feel how sad the days of autumn are. The leaves are crumbling, the grasses are rotting, the sun is still warming, but quite faintly. All nature is preparing for winter.
Levitan is a master of color. How beautiful white trunks of birches on the background of green grass. Colors incredibly colorful and juicy. Artist deliberately does not prescribe every blade of grass and every leaf. A kind of haze appears before us, of which the poets said it was "ringing. The whole image merges into certain patches of color, creating a special mood of autumnal despondency and sadness. The gray sky does not enliven the landscape at all. It rather joylessly observes the whole picture of nature’s preparation for the cold. Only the elegant trunks of birches bring a little joy to the eye, enlivening this bleak landscape.
Levitan knew how to find in ordinary autumn landscapes a special charm and true poetry.

The picture has something of this: people, landscape, outdoors, wear, cropland, tree, fall, water, man, group, nature, daylight, river, leaf, mountain.
Perhaps it’s a painting of a grassy field with trees in the foreground and a hill in the distance with a few clouds in the sky.
