Спасибо за публликацию. Еще много неизвестных картин Кипренского хранятся за рубежами России. Жаль, что нет сведений о картине: размеры, матерал. техника, бытование. Будду рад, еслли сообщите. Пётр Сушко

The subject’s hair is styled in loose, voluminous curls, rendered with visible brushstrokes that suggest texture and movement. A white collar peeks out from beneath a dark, richly textured garment – likely velvet or a similar fabric – which drapes across his shoulders, adding to the sense of formality and perhaps suggesting a degree of social standing. The artist employed a technique where the folds of the clothing are not precisely defined but rather suggested through variations in tone and color, contributing to an overall impression of subdued elegance.
Beyond the straightforward representation, there’s a palpable sense of psychological depth conveyed by the subjects gaze and posture. He appears thoughtful, perhaps even burdened by some internal contemplation. The darkness surrounding him could be interpreted as symbolic of introspection or solitude. The directness of his stare establishes an immediate connection with the viewer, inviting speculation about his character and circumstances.
The painting’s composition is relatively simple, focusing entirely on the individuals likeness and emotional state. This deliberate restraint reinforces the impression that this is not merely a superficial depiction but rather an attempt to capture something more profound – a glimpse into the inner life of the portrayed man.
